Is this some 200 IQ Swedish engineering, or do I need a new brake caliper?
The handbrake has disengaged and fun fact; I could still spin the rotor inside the caliper as if it was still on the hub, but tapping it with a hammer couldn’t dislodge it. What kind of Swedish sorcery is this?

Perhaps your brake pads are actually magnets.

The pads have probably cut a depression into the surface, leaving a lip. If you tap it loose, you’ll lose some brake lining at the same time and you’ll need new pads.
You need to compress the piston(s) until you can get the pad over the lip.

More likely you need a new rotor, as yours has a lip around the edge. I’d do new pads and rotors.

Gotcha, I didn’t mess with it too much since I was just trying to get to the hub. I’ll keep it in mind when I do the brakes later, since they have some life left in them. Although they are making some noise. The hub wasn’t as bad as I thought, but it was definitely grinding some.

Yeah, they’re making some noise, so the pads are probably rubbing inside the lip, thus causing the same symptoms of a hanging caliper.

Leave it as is until you are ready to do the brakes. Since it is a rear and that is where the parking brake is, it may not be possible to retract the piston with the rotor in place so breaking it free means probably replacing with the pads.
BTW, I am not a fan of replacing rotors (especially rears) on street cars unless they are horribly rusted or warped. I don’t think new ones help much, and they might warp, so why spend the money....Your’s appear fine to me, if it was my car, I’d keep them.

Now you can upgrade to ventilated discs instead of one solid piece.

Well they have a nasty lip that’s the edge of the pad is rubbing and making noise. I could get them machined, but that’s pretty much the cost of new rotors. The fact that they have a lip that bad leads me to think the rotors on the car aren’t good quality anyway.
